Mission
Keep California Beautiful's mission is to ignite individual, community and corporate responsibility and pride through active resource conservation and waste minimization to enhance California's beauty for generations to come.
In 2004 KCB sponsored over 925 cleanup and recycling events, mobilizing 57,820 volunteers who collected 4.2 million pounds of litter for a total of 48,949 volunteer hours on behalf of the state of California. You can help continue our war on litter!
KCB conducts litter prevention campaigns with celebrities such as World Champion Skateboarder Tony Hawk, and Five Time Triple Crown Surfer Sunny Garcia with the message Don't Trash California, encouraging youngsters to make a difference by signing a pledge not to litter and to recycle.
Current Projects: Beverage Container Recycling Programs...
About four years ago Keep California Beautiful received a grant from the Department of Conservation to bring Beverage Container Recycling to three San Diego locations!
KCB, in partnership with City of San Diego Environmental Services Department and Allan Company Recycling, is responsible for implementing Beverage Container Recycling Programs at Balboa Park, Westfield Shoppingtown Mission Valley and Westfield Shoppingtown University Towne Center. Look for the new recycling containers at these locations and RECYCLE!
Working with Cities and Counties throughout California, KCB assists in implementing litter prevention and recycling programs through the Department of Conservation's City/County Payment Program. KCB will not only implement programs on the city or county's behalf, but will monitor progress, fulfill reporting requirements and administrative activities on behalf of the cities and/or counties.
To request more information regarding this program and to check the eligibility of your City/County, please contact Christine Flowers-Ewing at 1-800-CLEAN CA.
